Vivaldi Music Academy offers piano lessons custom tailored to each student’s interests and goals. The Academy aims to foster confidence and creativity in all of its innovative programs. Faculty members have warm personalities and instrument specific degrees – some are members of the Houston Symphony and Houston Grand Opera. BRIDGES ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS

Bridges offers Suzuki Piano for children ages 4-8. The academy also offers voice lessons, as well as private and group instruction for other instruments including organ, violin, viola, cello, guitar, flute, clarinet and saxophone. Director Beverly Laubach says, “Houston is busting at the seams with wonderful, qualified music instructors. We have a talented faculty of 18 instructors. Parents can come here trusting that everyone has passed a background check, that every single one of the teaching rooms have windows so lessons can be observed at any time. Children’s safety is of paramount importance. We adhere to the Methodist Church guidelines on making sure children are always safe in our facilities.”
SHEPHERD SCHOOL OF MUSIC

The Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program offers lessons to serious and gifted music students, ages six through pre-college. Instrument choices include piano, violin, viola or cello.
WUNDER ACADEMY

Wunder offers private and group lessons. The academy’s pre-school group program is called Pianotopia – children ages 3 to 5 to start the exposure to piano as a social and entertaining activity. Wunder also offers iCap (Interactive Computer-Assisted Piano), group lessons that combine traditional piano with high-tech systems. Director Sherry Liu says, “Music is a source of life-time enjoyment. Making difficult tasks fun and engaging is the goal. HOUSTON PIANO COMPANY

Music for Little Mozarts is a program designed for children ages 4 to 6. Classes are a mix of piano instruction, singing and dancing.

Group Piano classes are offered to children 7-11 years old. Private Piano lessons are offered for children ages 10 and up, and adults. Parents are advised to wait until their children are 8 or 9 years old before private lessons.
VANOVER MUSIC ACADEMY

Vanover Music Academy offers piano lessons to children of all ages, and adults. The academy also offers guitar and violin instruction, as well as voice lessons. Owner Elizabeth Vanover says, “We tailor our approach to the individual. Our students range in age from 4 to 14 to 40 years old. We can combine methods depending on their age, their ability, and what they want to accomplish. Our talented instructors encourage students to find a love for their instrument while giving the highest quality education.”

Our teachers hold degrees in the art discipline they are teaching, and set different goals with each student depending on what they are looking to achieve. This involves educating and nurturing the children as well as the parents.”
SUZUKI ACADEMY

The Suzuki teaching method is used for piano, guitar, violin, viola and cello lessons. There is great emphasis on listening – listening to the music before students attempt to play any part of the compositions. Traditional methodology is also used to strengthen children’s abilities to read music. Group classes are encouraged to create feelings of camaraderie and teamwork with fellow students, and build confidence for recitals.
