Houston Ballet Classes & Group Dance Lessons

The following list is compiled from a ParentsPost Survey. They are recommendations made by other Houston area moms and dads.

HOUSTON BALLET ACADEMY

The preschool program offers Creative Dance for children 4-5 years old. Pre-ballet is for children who are 6 years old. At the age of 7 and up, students must audition for admission into the main school.

HUNTER DANCE CENTER

Hunter Dance Center’s Youth Program offer a variety of classes for children ages 3 and up. Tippy Toes introduce preschoolers to the fundamentals of ballet and modern dance using story and props. Older kids have choices between ballet, modern, hip hop, street jazz and even cirucs arts.

Children’s classes offered include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern and Broadway. Preschoolers ages 3-4 can take a creative dance combo.

CLAIRE SCHOOL OF DANCE

The early childhood program offers creative movement and pre-ballet classes for children ages 2 ½-6. Children 7 and older can take ballet, tap, modern, or hip hop. Ballet classes are based on the National Training Curriculum of the American Ballet Theatre.

WEST UNIVERSITY DANCE CENTRE

Creative Movement classes are offered for 3-year-olds. Pre-ballet classes are offered for 4-year-olds. Combination classes of ballet and tap, or ballet and jazz, are offered for children ages 5-8. Children ages 7 and up can choose between ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop. Teens and adults can also take modern dance.

WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE RECREATION CENTER

The Budding Ballerina class introduces 2 ½ to 3 year olds to ballet. A combination ballet and tap class is offered for children ages 3-9. Jazz is added to combination classes for children 8-10 years old.

DISCOVER DANCE

Creative Movement class is offered for children 2-3 years old. Combination classes of ballet and tap are offered for children ages 3 and up. Hippity hop classes are offered for children ages 3-4. Hip Hop classes are offered for kids ages 5 and up – integrating age-appropriate choreography with no suggestive music or movement. Kids ages 7 and up can choose between ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop.
